Ross L. Pike was elected in November 2020 by the people of Fallbrook to serve on the Fallbrook Planning Group, becoming the first openly gay person ever elected in Fallbrook. In July of 2022, Ross became the first openly gay person and Democrat to hold two elected offices in the Fallbrook area when he was appointed as the Director of the North County Fire Protection District, representing District 1. He won his race to keep the seat in the November 2022 election, running unopposed.
Growing up in western Michigan, Ross began working with the Democratic Party when he was 16 volunteering for President Obama’s first presidential campaign. Ross later moved to Fallbrook to be closer to family who had already relocated to Southern California. He quickly got involved with local politics by joining the Fallbrook Democratic Club.
In 2021, Ross was elected as an ADEM delegate to the California Democratic Party representing Assembly District 75. Ross also serves as a member of the San Diego County Party Democratic Central Committee for AD75, Vice Chair Pro Tem of the North Inland Area Caucus of the San Diego County Democratic Party, President of the Fallbrook Democratic Club, Director of Communications for the San Diego County Young Democrats, and Political Affairs Director of the North County Young Democrats.
