President: Codi Vierra (she/her/hers)
Codi grew up in the Bay Area, and moved to San Diego in 2012. She attended UC San Diego, from which she graduated in 2016 with a degree in Political Science, and minors in Business and in Urban Studies & Planning. During that time she served on the Executive Board of the UCSD College Democrats, and as Executive Director of the UCSD’s Student Organized Voter Access Committee (SOVAC) under the Associated Students, responsible for student voter registration and engagement efforts.
In this role, she organized the annual move-in voter registration drive, negotiated an agreement with campus administration to allow for nonpartisan door-to-door voter registration, negotiated with the Registrar of Voters to establish a Mail-Ballot Drop-Off site on campus and directly hired/managed several student MBDO workers, and oversaw the registration of 2000+ students to vote ahead of the June primary election. She has since provided trainings to other student groups, Democratic clubs, and campaigns.
Codi has volunteered and worked on multiple campaigns, serving as Finance Director and Campaign Manager for Congressman Scott Peters’ 2020 reelection campaign and later as a Field Representative in his District Office. She served for three years as Deputy Chief of Staff to San Diego City Councilmember Stephen Whitburn. She now works on the 2026 gubernatorial campaign for Senate President Pro Tem Emeritus Toni Atkins.
In 2019, Codi was elected as an Assembly District Delegate to the California Democratic Party (CDP) and was then appointed to serve on the CDP Voter Services Committee. She was able to pass a resolution through the CDP supporting the restoration of voting rights for Californians in prison or on parole, making it an official position of the party. She co-hosted a CYD training for Young Democrats on how to run/get elected as CDP delegates, and also advocated successfully for Young Democrats to be added to winning slates created in conjunction with labor organizations, elected officials, and other external partners.
Codi currently serves as the Vice President of Membership for the California Young Democrats, having previously served as the Vice President of Finance, Secretary, South State Regional Director, and Deputy Regional Director. She has served as President of the San Diego County Young Democrats since 2021, having previously served as Vice President, Director of Membership, and Secretary. Under her leadership, the San Diego County Young Democrats has hosted annual fundraisers, regularly bringing in over $30,000 per year to help support Young Democrats' participation in conventions and other CYD and Party activities, including hosting the Welcome Reception for the 2024 California Young Democrats Convention.
Codi is a member of the San Diego County Democratic Party Central Committee and serves on its Executive Board. From 2021-2023 she was the Director of Clubs elected by the Council of Clubs, overseeing and assisting over 50 Democratic clubs in San Diego County. She was elected as the Metro West Area Caucus Vice Chair after serving as Vice Chair Pro Tem for two years. She is also the former President of the University City Democratic Club.
Fun fact: Her great-grandfather played on SDSU’s basketball team when they were the “1923 SoCal Champs” 🏀
